Weather Policy

Prior to a game on a wet day, you can learn of the status of all city-owned fields by dialing 817-462-8441. For MLK, press 6 and listen to the recording. Be sure to take note of the date on the recording, as you may be hearing a message from a previous day.
Initial playability of the fields lies with the City until league representatives arrive at the fields. Once the umpires take the field, that responsibility is theirs.
When weather is approaching/imminent, board members on duty will stay in close contact with our Perry alert system. When the alert/alarm sounds, the fields will be cleared immediately. When Perry assures us it is safe to resume play, we will do just that.
Umpires have ultimate authority while games are being played. If one field is cleared because of weather/lightning, all fields will be cleared.
We will use Perry Weather as our yardstick.
When lightning is not visible, but inclement weather is inevitable (or lightning is less than ten miles away), the board members, after consulting with each other, will alert the umpires to clear the fields until the inclement weather passes.
A quorum of the board members will decide at the time what the allowable wait time to resume play will be—should they decide that the weather is not going to subside or leave the area in a reasonable amount of time, the games may be suspended.
Any suspension of games will also result in the suspension/cancellation of any other activities scheduled for the fields at that time, to include movies, bounce houses, etc.
While we will make every effort to play all games, the safety of the players, families and volunteers of the league will not be compromised.
