Games begin the week of March 21. Check your Team Wall for your schedule; our website is the official schedule.
As the games begin I want to make sure everyone understands the expectations of behavior. We strive to make this the most positive experience there is in youth sports. Everyone is encouraged to support and cheer for your team in an encouraging manner. It's even good to even cheer for the other team at this level.
There is no talking to the volunteer umpire. We aren't keeping score. The umpire is a volunteer doing his/her best to give the kids and families a good experience by serving in this capacity. We all need to respect the umpire is in the position of control and authority during the game.
Neither players nor adults should be yelling or confronting opponents at any time. The baseball field at MLK is no place for setting a bad example for these youngsters. There should be no conflict or confrontation for our players and families to witness.
The Manager is responsible for the behavior of all players, volunteers and spectators for his/her team. Make their job easier by being supportive, positive and encouraging.
As you watch the practice and hard work of your child on display during the games remember the three philosophies of Coach Pitch here at ASWLL:
- Make it fun, keep it fun
- Teach the fundamentals
- Balance the playing time
I thank you in advance for supporting and encouraging those philosophies as well as your team. Let's have some fun.
